What your money does

Achieve our mission

We intercept and repurpose around 1,000 tons of surplus food annually – the equivalent of 2.3 million meals.

This food includes fresh produce, dairy, meat, and pantry items, which are then safely processed and distributed.

Through partnerships we supply food boxes, supports schools with nutritionally balanced meals, and offers sustainable catering for events, all under our mission to "Feed Bellies Not Bins."

What your money does

Support our operations

We are very grateful to all the volunteers who help us run the store, but without our small pool (three) of employees we couldn't function.

Your money helps us pay wages, rent and utility bills to keep our spaces alive.

What your money does

Essential Transport

To intercept surplus food from our partners we must have our trusty Van, without it we wouldn't be able to do what we do.

A vehicle comes with a lot of costs, your support means we can not only pay for the van but keep it maintained and on the road.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can you afford the prizes?

Surplus to Purpose do not pay out any prizes. Our lottery is run and managed by our External Lottery Manager, Bee Ethical Limited.

This means that all organisations managed by Bee Ethical contribute to the prize pot, ensuring there is sufficient funds to pay out the prizes on offer.

How much of my £10 do you get?

For every £10 ticket Surplus to Purpose receive 63% (£6.30).

The other 37% is retained by Bee Ethical Limited.

I thought you were in financial difficulties?

We were, this is the primary reason we closed all our stores and reduced our offer. Since this point (March 2025), we have made big strides towards stabilising the organisation.

To continue on with our mission, we need ongoing support, this is where the lottery comes in. Not only do we receive your money, you get a chance to win prizes.

You just raised a CrowdFunder, why do you need more money?

Since the Crowdfunder (May 2025) we have secured our future for 2025.

The only income we have at present is from the store sales in Bradford, this fluctuates significantly, meaning some weeks we struggle to break even.

To ensure we can continue through 2026 and beyond, we need to establish more income streams to protect us from any lows in store sales.
